The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
